My Dad’s Midlife Crisis: Up And Getting A Classic Ford Mustang
Posted: April 29th, 2010 | Author: Tamara | Filed under: Interesting Posts | No Comments »So I haven’t much had any time to write on my site nearly as often as I might like, owing to the fact that I’ve been helping Dad fuel his super nutball midlife crisis. True, I suppose it isn’t quite as nuts as it might be. The thing is, what he did was to get himself dressed up like the Fonz or something, and come on over to my house and tell me, in his jazziest dialect: “Get in, bro, we are going to be scouting for some classic Ford Mustang Sales. That’s right, my boy, I’m all set to buy one.”
So next the two of us were on our way to all of those crazy vintage car places that everybody is just about convinced are not quite on the up and up, and I see my crazy padre wrote a check without even stopping to think, for a very sparkly classic Ford Mustang. It’s quite piece of machinery. It had a great sound too.
There’s a reason why I put that in the past tense. It sounded really nice right up until it became silent. Dad informs me that it’s just a quick problem and all he needs is the right part. Only thing is, it may not be as straightforward to come across classic Mustang parts as it was about 30 years ago, but the old man informs me there is a really sizable aftermarket for them in spite of their age. From what I’m told the the best bet for finding parts for classic Ford Mustangs is via internet auctions, since you can get them all refurbished and occasionally even brand new. They’re not necessarily cheap, however… Get real, they are ancient automotive parts.
Could be worse, though… He might’ve bought himself a volkswagen bus.
